Finished this horror manga by Honda Shingo. It honestly wasn’t great but his monster designs were slightly interesting. They remind me of creatures you’d find in the Resident Evilseries. Lots of biological mutation and gory violence.
On this episode Seamus is eager to read more of Girl’s Last Tour which is similar to BLAME!, we do a quick update on new Chi no Wadachi and BEASTARS chapters, dakazu finishes Chimamire Sukeban Chainsaw(Bloody Delinquent Chainsaw) and Inio Asano’s Reiraku, and he checks out a manga adaptation of the hit 2016 Japanese novel I Want to Eat Your Pancreas. Then we return to the world of ZQN with our I am a Hero retrospective! We go over the events that are leading to a big finale in Tokyo and discuss Hideo and Hiromi’s official relationship!(covers chapters 192-228)
Got a chance to read the ending of this gore manga. For a horror manga, it had a light-hearted tone akin to something like Evil Dead. The abrupt ending was a bit of a disappointment. It definitely seems like it got canceled.
It’s running again in WeeklyShonen Jump. I think it’s a damn shame Togashi’s health issues keep this manga on hiatus so much. Gotta give him credit for not just ending it. I hope he’ll get to finish it someday.
Manga adaptation of a novel by Yoru Sumino that won various literary awards in 2016. It had a live action movie adaptation as well. A bittersweet story about two teenagers who develop a relationship despite one only having a limited amount of time left due to a terminal illness. Decent drama but you can tell it’s a novel adaptation and it suffers rough spots going through a transfer of medium. You might like it but I would just recommend you check out the original novel or read A Silent Voice instead.
Saw the recent anime and decided to read the series. I didn’t like it at first but the quirky characters grew on me. My favorite chapters revolve around Aoyama’s adventures playing an MMO because I did not expect a sports manga to go there.
This week Seamus is keeping up with BEASTARS, darfox talks about the end of Fairy Tale, we discuss the Hollywood TV adaptations of One Piece and Cowboy Bebop, we praise the casting of Willem Defoe as Ryuk in Netflix’s Death Note, dakazu loves Ono Natsume’s new manga Lady and Oldman but doesn’t like the reboot of Osamu Tezuka’s The Three Eyed One called Mitsume Mokushiroku: Akuma Ouji Sharaku(Three Eyed Apocalypse), and dakazu rants about accepting commissions for scanlations. Then we continue our long retrospective review of I am a Hero and discuss major events that take place during the Hakone Hot Springs arc!!!(covers chapters 156-191)
Natusme Ono’s new manga. It’s an interesting tale about a man who finishes serving a 100 year prison sentence and a young girl who helps him. They team up to become couriers for dangerous packages in 1960′s Los Angeles. I really love Natusme Ono works that are set in America. I want to read more!
Found this reboot/sequel to Osamu Tezuka’s lesser known work The Three Eyed One. Pretty disappointing as the artwork isn’t great. I recommend you go read the original instead.
On this episode we give our opinions on light novels, we discuss the newest chapters of Chi no Wadachi and BEASTARS, dakazu finds Paru Itagaki’s Prototype of BEASTARS called Beast Complex and checks out Restaurant to Another World(Isekai Shokudo), and Seamus and Darfox review the second season of TheEccentric Family. Then we return to our retrospective of I am a Hero! We wrap up the Kurusu-arc and get into the Hakone hot springs-arc!!!(covers chapters 118-155)
