Fire Punch

Was really impressed with this manga when it started but they’ve taken such a strange swerve with the story I’m not sure where it wants to go.

Jigokuren Death Life

From the cover you can suspect it might be awful pandering moe garbage.
…It was.

Iburigurashi

A slice of life food manga where the theme is smoking all kinds of food. Artwork is nice, food looks good, and I like the characterizations of the main couple. They feel real.

DREA-MER

Bizarre shonen manga about a main character that wakes up from his perfect dream to find a post-apocalyptic world ruled by alien sheep creatures who put all the humans to sleep. I like the weird design of the alien creatures and the protagonist who gives zero fucks about anything except destroying the aliens.

Girls’ Last Tour

Checked out this manga after Seamus recommended it. The world is a giant city structure similar to BLAME! but even less inhabited. Really enjoying it and I would have never checked it out based on the artwork alone. It’s getting an anime adaption soon as well.

Hakaijuu

Finished this horror manga by Honda Shingo. It honestly wasn’t great but his monster designs were slightly interesting. They remind me of creatures you’d find in the Resident Evil series. Lots of biological mutation and gory violence.

Chimamire Sukeban Chainsaw

Got a chance to read the ending of this gore manga. For a horror manga, it had a light-hearted tone akin to something like Evil Dead. The abrupt ending was a bit of a disappointment. It definitely seems like it got canceled.

Hunter x Hunter

It’s running again in Weekly Shonen Jump. I think it’s a damn shame Togashi’s health issues keep this manga on hiatus so much. Gotta give him credit for not just ending it. I hope he’ll get to finish it someday.

I Want to Eat Your Pancreas

Manga adaptation of a novel by Yoru Sumino that won various literary awards in 2016. It had a live action movie adaptation as well. A bittersweet story about two teenagers who develop a relationship despite one only having a limited amount of time left due to a terminal illness. Decent drama but you can tell it’s a novel adaptation and it suffers rough spots going through a transfer of medium. You might like it but I would just recommend you check out the original novel or read A Silent Voice instead.
